Tamiya Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 (BT-01)

Another Tamiya R/C kit, this time a short wheelbase, midship rear motor / rear wheel drive (MR) arrangement with the body that replicates the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8, is welcomed upon the 2WD BT-01 chassis, which offers choices of FF/MR/FR drive system. One of the icons of the Porsche 911 series is the Porsche Carrera RS 2.7. It had a 2,687cc horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine with 210 horsepower, a lightweight body for better aerodynamics, and wide rear tyres when it was developed in 1973 for participation in European GT races. With a displacement increase to 2,808cc and an output of nearly 300 horsepower, the Carrera RSR 2.8 racing version won multiple global races and was the European GT race champion in 1973.

This is a 1/10 scale R/C model assembly kit. Length: 457mm, width: 204mm, height: 138mm.

The form of the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 is realistically recreated in lightweight polycarbonate. Silver colour wheels (front: narrow, rear: wide / rims and red wheel caps are separate) are paired with racing slick tires (front: Item 50454, rear: Item 50547). Please note that the kit does not have the inner sponges for either front or rear. A separate moulded plastic part recreates the side mirror.

The 2WD BT-01 chassis gives a choice of two types of wheelbase, and front- or rear- wheel drive system. Without removing battery pack, motor and R/C equipment setups from the centre frame, simply change attachment directions of final gears and steering linkage to switch between front- and rear-wheel drive; front (FR) or midship rear (MR) motor position can be chosen for rear-wheel drive cars. The 4-wheel double wishbone suspension features symmetrical structure and friction dampers. Unitized sections such as motor mount, final gears and suspension facilitate ease of assembly and effective maintenance.
