Tamiya RC Grasshopper
In 1984, the Grasshopper, which was modelled after one-seater buggies that were popular in the 1980s and could be seen tearing up dirt tracks all over the United States, made its debut in radio-controlled toy stores. The lightweight Grasshopper, which boasts easy assembly and easy control, was an instant hit as the ideal entry level R/C kit due to its popularity among beginners. The Grasshopper was an entry-level car that could keep up with its owner's driving experience because it was compatible with a wide variety of optional parts, such as a 540 motor and ball bearings.
What made the Grasshopper so exceptional was the fact that it could be put together in a matter of minutes despite its rugged exterior. The sturdy plastic body is screwed to the bathtub resin monocoque chassis, resulting in the creation of a sturdy frame that is able to withstand any type of rough handling. Thanks to coil spring dampers, independent swing axle front and rear suspension, and rigid axle suspension in the rear, off-road courses can be navigated with relative ease. To ensure that driving and cornering are as smooth as possible, a diff-loaded sealed gearbox keeps dirt and stones out. On dirt tracks, excellent grip performance can be achieved with the combination of grooved front tyres, paddle-style rear tyres, and wheels with a three-piece assembly type. A fun off-road R/C car can be finished off with the addition of a driver figure that is only half their body.
