HPI Racing

Excitement is what it is all about! Not only do HPI cars and trucks have a reputation for being highly durable, stylish, and well-made, but they are also a lot of fun!

All ages of hobbyists, from novices to enthusiasts, who have an eye for the unique, like using HPI items.

It all began in 1986 when Tatsuro Watanabe founded Hobby Products International in Southern California, the largest market for RC (Radio Control) models and accessories worldwide, with a tiny initial investment and a great deal of labour. The original product line included motors, wheels for both on- and off-road vehicles, and graphite parts for race cars that were already in existence. Uno Motors demonstrated their ability to contend with the world's leading corporations by winning a World Championship championship in 1987! Because of its early success, HPI was able to swiftly expand its product line and finally introduce the Super F1, their first automobile kit.

HPI significantly expanded the size of its design team in response to increased sales success, and additional kits and options quickly followed. From this point on, things moved quickly, turning HPI from an accessory manufacturer into one of the world's most successful RC firms. After starting out with electric car kits, HPI's product line grew to include fuel-powered RC vehicles (Nitro RS4), off-road vehicles (RS4 MT), small-scale RC vehicles (Micro RS4), and eventually larger kits such as the renowned Savage monster truck and the Baja 1/5th scale buggy and truck series. Through websites and fan groups, HPI Racing was able to get recognition from both RC media and enthusiasts for its cars and trucks, which also won prizes along the way.

HB's pure racing vehicles were based on HPI car designs, which helped the company win its first World Championship in the ISTC on-road racing category in 2006. 2008 saw the D8 buggy win its first World Championship in off-road racing. With continued dedication to racing development, the buggy went on to win more US National Championships as well as two more World Championships.
