Traxxas TRX-4 1979 Ford F-150, part number TRX92144-4, is a 1:10 scale 4WD electric trail crawler with an officially licensed 1979 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT body. It combines authentic scale styling with a rugged chassis designed for demanding off-road driving. Chrome bumpers, side trim, side markers, a detailed two-tone grille, clear windows, wipers and door handles give this model a convincing full-size-inspired appearance, while the clipless body mounting keeps the exterior clean and allows quick access to the chassis.
Underneath the scale body, portal axles raise the differential housings and provide 80 mm of centre ground clearance, helping the truck clear obstacles with improved axle geometry. The front and rear axles use full-time spool locks, so all four wheels receive equal traction for controlled climbing across uneven terrain. A single-speed steel-gear transmission prioritises torque and reduces chassis weight, contributing to a useful balance between durability and weight distribution.
Trail Performance
The front-mounted 21-turn Titan 550 brushed motor provides strong torque for steep climbs and useful speed on flatter trails. Power is managed by the waterproof XL-5 HV electronic speed control, which supports 2s-3s LiPo or 6-7 cell NiMH batteries and offers five selectable drive profiles. Waterproof electronics are suited to exploring creeks, snow and muddy terrain, subject to suitable care and maintenance after use.
Canyon Trail tyres with S1 compound rubber, trail-tuned foam inserts and 1.9-inch chrome wheels provide the traction-focused setup expected of a scale crawler. Silver-anodised, oil-filled GTS aluminium shocks feature threaded bodies for ride-height adjustment, while the extended 1.5 mm steel ladder frame and moulded cross members add chassis rigidity around the 336 mm wheelbase.

To operate the model, you will need four AA batteries for the transmitter, plus a suitable rechargeable battery and charger. Suggested battery compatibility includes 4-7 cell NiMH and 2s-3s LiPo packs. The Traxxas EZ-Peak Live charger, model TRX2971, is suggested for straightforward charging performance.
