With the release of the new Hi-Rock variant from FTX, the Outback trail chassis continues to evolve to new heights. We have attempted to address both scale performance and scale looks, which trail and crawler enthusiasts continue to want, with the Hi-Rock.

The engine, which now has a split gearbox and is positioned right above the front axle next to the steering servo, adds weight up front to improve grip on steep climbs. To further enhance trail manoeuvrability, the steering angle was raised to a 45° degree. In the case of a lockup, an adjustable drivetrain slipper can be used to safeguard the gearbox and driveshafts, while internal metal gears in the axle and gearbox offer long-term reliability.

Because of the split gearbox layout's somewhat lower centre section, aftermarket interiors can be installed for greater scale authenticity. The outside of the moulded side chassis plates are made of aluminium, while the interior plates house the Hobbywing speed control and mounting receiver in addition to provide weather protection. Additional plug-in connections for LED lights and aftermarket winches are included in the moulded receiver box.

The bodyshell, which is modelled after a classic pick-up truck, includes moulded accessories such a snorkel, mirrors, wipers, roll bar cage, front grill with LED light buckets and spotlights (if LEDs are chosen). To complete the scale appearance, mounted LED lights and tow hooks are added to the front and rear bumpers.
