With revised decals, an instruction manual, and window masking stickers to facilitate window trim painting, the Lexus LS 400 is back in the Tamiya product catalogue. The first automobile from Toyota to be sold under the luxury Lexus brand was the LS 400, which made its debut in 1989. It was a masterful example of how to combine performance, safety, and enjoyment of driving into a top-tier luxury vehicle. With an extremely low drag coefficient of 0.29, its body was sleek and flowing. The electronically controlled 4-speed automated gearbox and double wishbone suspension system offered the highest level of driving comfort, while the 3,968cc DOHC V8 engine produced 250 horsepower.
