Tamiya 1/24 Castrol Toyota Toms Supra GT
Since their 1993 launch, the Japanese GT Car Championships have grown in popularity among Japanese fans of motorsports. Apart from the heavily customised Japanese vehicles, European supercars such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche compete for the top spot.
Toyota entered a fleet of race-tuned Supra GTs in this well-known event during the 1995 season. Encased within the identical Supra body shell was Toyota's most recent racing technology. A 2,140cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine was removed from Toyota's Eagle Mk.III race car, which competed in the United States in the 1993 IMSA events. The incredible power of this engine was effectively transferred to the rear wheels via the X-Trac sequential 6-speed gearbox. Components of the four-wheel double wishbone suspension were removed from a different Toyota prototype racer, the TS010.
To achieve even greater aerodynamics, the body shell underwent substantial modification. Its large silhouette gave it an even more aggressive aspect, as did the additional air intakes and outlets, oversized fenders, and a massive rear spoiler.
During the 1995 season, the Supra was raced by four different teams, Tom's being one of them with Castrol sponsorship. The Castrol Tom's Supra, driven by the accomplished drivers Sekiya and Krumm, won over the hearts of racing fans with its exceptional performance all season long.
