Honda's NXR750 dominated the roost in the motorcycle part of the demanding Dakar Rally in the late 1980s. eager to publicise their achievements, in 1988 Honda unveiled a copy production model of the bike, called the XRV650. Given the now-legendary Africa Twin name, this was the first model offered; its appeal worldwide helped the adventure-touring bike industry grow. Although the Africa Twin name was to step back from the limelight for a period as sales stopped early in the 2000s, it was never forgotten by aficionados of the genre; when the it name was revived in 2015 in the form of the CRF1000L, cause for celebration. Its 998cc, 92hp liquid-cooled 4-stroke parallel twin engine (Japan spec), housed in a semi-double cradle frame, features twin headlights, plus 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels and a tough off-road look given by the capacious 18-liter fuel tank (Japan spec.). The varied model range incorporates a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission model.
