The range includes Scania, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and other ultra-realistic models.
Expertly crafted to 1/14th scale, Tamiya trucks, trailers, and construction vehicles take the driving experience to the next level. Many model enthusiasts discover their passion for building and driving remote-controlled vehicles with racing cars, but once they’ve experienced a truck it becomes a lifetime love!
There’s something about the sheer scales of trucks and trailers that we see on the road, and the Tamiya replicas capture this magic in models we can own.
If you’d like to experience the thrill of Tamiya trucks, the following models are great places to start.
The Tamiya Grand Hauler
This model really catches the eye, and its styling is based on the legendary King Hauler – the Daddy of all Tamiya trucks! The Tamiya design team has given the King Hauler the tuning treatment to design updated metal and chrome parts to give the Grand Hauler its unique look. A longer frame gives it a real show truck and it’s sure to impress.
Some experience in model building is required to take this on, but with time and patience, you’ll be amazed and rewarded by the finished article. As with all Tamiya RC models it’s the details that really make this truck – metal exhaust pipes, true-to-model drive train, and driver figure included.
Based on the 2012 Truck of the Year, this truly is a beast!
This popular RC model is a replica of the Actros 3363 6x4 GigaSpace, powered by a 15.6-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine with 630 horsepower and twin rear axle drive. It’s the detail that really brings it to life, including representations of the auxiliary lighting on the cab top and bumper. The advanced suspension system uses friction dampers and leaf springs, and its ladder frame chassis comprises side channels made of aluminum with resin cross members.
Once built, the driving experience really delivers and gives you the feeling you're behind the wheel. Engine sounds have been digitally captured from the real truck, with gear shifting, the air horn, and other sounds recreated perfectly. Headlights, hazard lights, brake lights, and fog lamps further enhance the fun of controlling a Mercedes-Benz truck.
Tamiya Scania 8X4/4
This truck is for the more experienced modeler, and it’s at the top end of the Tamiya range in terms of budget. You can really see Tamiya’s promise to be ‘First in Quality Around the World’ in every aspect of this model.
The Scania truck is a real workhorse of the road and it’s recreated perfectly here right down to the 4-wheel drive and dual axle front steering. The second axle is liftable and the wheels can be raised via a mechanical lever on top of the chassis.
The stunning cab is perfectly created by state-of-the-art injection molding and the rear detailed renderings of auxiliary machinery tower, fuel tank, and air tank give it a heavyweight look.
Like the original truck it’s based on, this model really turns heads and gives a sense of power few other RC models can deliver.
