Tamiya Honda F1 RA272 1/24

Not only was the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix the final race of the season, but it was also the final Formula One event to have 1.5 litre normally aspirated engines. Richie Ginther, a skillful driver, drove Honda's fiercely competitive RA272 racing machine to victory in this unforgettable event. This was Honda's first F-1 victory since they entered the 1964 German Grand Prix, making them the first Japanese automaker to compete in F-1 Grand Prix racing. Using their RA271 vehicle, Honda participated in the 1964 season with young American driver Ronnie Bucknum. While the RA271 occasionally revealed a hint of its latent capabilities, it was unable to record any noteworthy outcomes.

Honda developed a far more integrated F-1 racing machine as a result of a disappointing season. After the 1964 season, Honda redesigned the machine as the RA272 after making significant improvements to it. Its transversely mounted V-12 cylinder engine was claimed to produce an astounding 220 horsepower or more due to its high tech and strong nature. When Richie Ginther joined the team at the start of the season, his background in racing assisted the team in improving the RA272. After finishing sixth in the Belgian and Dutch Grand Prix, he eventually triumphed in Mexico on October 24, 1965. Ginther's RA272 took the lead shortly after the race began and never gave it up, finishing first the entire way. Partner Bucknum added to Honda's racing accomplishments by finishing fifth.
